Human Design Series Leadership Qualities By Types
When exploring leadership qualities in the Human Design chart, bringing it back to basics starts with the Types. Every Type has a specific energetic leadership strength that you can embrace and grow in any type of position. Note: in this post, I’ll be using Quantum Human Design™ language with Traditional language in parentheses.
Instead of thinking “I’m an Alchemist (Generator) and I’m supposed to do the work others tell me to do”, reframe into “My chart is an Alchemist (Generator) chart and I have a specific quality that I can leverage as a leader.” See how different that is? I believe that it’s harmful to box yourself in by Type. Everyone can lead. Everyone can “do the work”. Using your leadership qualities and honoring your specific energy is the important part.
Initiator (Manifestor)
If you have the Initiator (Manifestor) Type, lean into your internal creative flow of ideas. When those ideas spark, and you know what to do with them, find the people who can help you bring the project all the way to closure. When you do this, it allows you to go back into your genius zone and brings someone else into their genius zone.
Look for opportunities in your day to day work where you can begin to use this quality to your advantage.
Time Bender (Manifesting Generator)
For the Time Bender (Manifesting Generator) Type, embrace your natural pull toward juggling multiple projects at once. Respond to what excites you, because when you do that, your excitement energizes the people around you and encourages their engagement.
Alchemist (Generator)
For the Alchemist (Generator) Type, your excitement around implementation of projects can increase interest and engagement of people around you. Respond to what feels exciting to tackle and it'll make those other tasks that aren't as fun bearable.
Orchestrator (Projector)
For the Orchestrator (Projector) Type, lean into your natural ability to see the big picture on projects and the pull to act as an adviser. Remember that this requires invitation, so be particular about where you do this. If you're not finding it right away, make yourself available as a mentor to junior staff and notice how your influence builds.
Calibrator (Reflector)
For the Calibrator (Reflector) Type, notice how you can sense into the community around you. This can be a project team, colleagues, etc. If you sense something feels off, bring it up to someone you trust. Being as sensitive to energies as you are, there's a unique opportunity to be proactive. You likely sense these things before others do.
As always, practice with these concepts, and if you find yourself resistant to them, take the opportunity for some reflection with two questions:
1. What do you think your qualities are as a leader and how are those different than described here?
2. Are there opportunities for you to practice these qualities described in a low stakes environment so you can test them out?
