A Bit About Astrology

You’ve probably been hearing about the year of the Neptune, Saturn and Uranus are changing signs or have already changed signs. It’s a big deal astrologically because these are planets furthest from earth they move more slowly through signs and in astrology are big energies that shape generations.

I use the CHANI app for astrology, and the following summary is from this article: https://www.chani.com/blogs/wtf-is-going-on

The big movements:

  • Neptune is moved into Aries on March 30th, 2025,

  • Saturn moved into Aries on May 24th, 2025 and has bounced in and out until February 13, 2026,

  • Uranus will move into Gemini on April 25th, 2026.

 So, what does that mean?

Neptune and Saturn are a party (?) in Aries. Neptune is a dreamy, fantasy energy and Aries is assertive/aggressive energy. This means that moving forward and fighting for what we believe in is paramount. And then Saturn in Aries is about structure, responsibilities, and Aries isn’t excited about that energy at all. The clash results in frustrations around trying to start something, but then something else rears its head and stops you in your tracks. That’s an oooffff kind of energy if you’ve been trying to get a project off the ground the past few years and are still feeling like it’s not there yet. Plus, the Saturn-Neptune conjuction on February 20th just caused more confusion.

When Uranus moves into Gemini there’s a disruptive energy (Uranus) and a communication/technology energy (Gemini). Personally, that may mean your social media feed becomes something you don’t want. Or at least, that’s my experience so far with my Substack feed suddenly feeling like every other social media platform, and I’m not happy about it. Collectively, it may mean that there will be disruptive technological advances (just look at how fast AI is showing up everywhere). Anyway, it’s probably a good idea to slow down and be mindful about what you’re consuming and how you’re using technology. Which is hard, right? If I’m a writer on Substack, I can’t avoid it, and now I have to do a lot of work to try to curate my feed out of the 24/7 news cycle. I have to have at least one space that shows me something besides all the bad news.

Gates Activated by the Planetary Transits

To get a feel for where this astrology affects your Human Design chart, we look at the which gates the planets are in. The following descriptions are from Understanding Human Design by Karen Curry Parker, Human Design by Jenna Zoe and my own interpretation.

A Human Design chart with stars and moon background

Uranus is in Gate 8 – Contribution

Gate 8 found on the Throat center and is associated with Gemini. This is an expression of individuality and wants to make a difference, but can’t unless it connects with the right energies and gets recognition. Like many things in Human Design, this is all about timing. The right timing will feel easier than trying to force it.

This gate tends to be a role model and leads by example. Another piece of this gate is the interest in style and beauty, so everything presented is in a style that brings it to the attention of someone who wants it. (i.e. creating something for a specific niche)

Uranus is an unpredictable energy. “Crazy Uncle Uranus” as one astrologer calls it. It comes in and no one quite knows what will happen. Well, with Gate 8, it’s bringing forward uniqueness. For example, what is your personal unique contribution to your work, community, or how you use (or don’t) use technological tools, and how are you telling people about it?

Saturn is in Gate 17 – Opinions

Gate 17 is found on the Ajna (mind) center and is associated with Aries. This is one of new ideas and curiosity and methodology. Think of the ideas coming through this gate as hypotheses. Hypotheses require experimentation then analyzing results, and the ideas thorough this gate need that experimentation. So, instead of thinking these are all certain and just blurting the ideas out, allowing the idea to germinate and be a possibility rather than a certainty can save you from a lot of frustration.

It is also a gate that breaks up patterns that are outdated or no longer serving you. And changing patterns requires curiosity! We all have different perspectives, acknowledging that what you experience is different from someone else, and allowing yourself to be different are key here.

Gate 17 in Saturn, the planet of rules and order is a tug of war. Saturn doesn’t want to charge ahead, but the energy of Gate 17 is to start experimenting with different ideas.

Neptune is in Gate 25 – Love of Spirit, Pisces/Aries, G

Gate 25 is one of the most spiritual gates in the chart. This gate is on the G or Identity center and is associated with Pisces/Aries (on the cusp). This gate is challenging you to trust in Divine Order/Spirit/Source/Universe that everything is happening in good time. It’s a childlike innocence that makes people feel “young” no matter their age. Timing is huge here, and it’s not necessarily waiting for the right timing to take action, it’s about trusting that your intentions will unfold as they are supposed to. (not as you want them to…) It’s also an indicator of being a natural hands-on healer.

With Neptune, the Gate 25 isn’t challenged much. Both are kind of dreamy and encourage flowing with what’s happening vs. charging ahead and trying to make something happen. However, with Saturn in Gate 17 and both Saturn and Neptune in Aries, there is a push-pull between dreaming (right brain) and methodical (left brain). The ideas coming from Gate 17 are being filtered through Saturn’s slower moving responsibilities, boundaries, order way of being while Gate 25 in Neptune is allowing for dreaming rather than action.

Some Final Thoughts

If you want to go down a rabbit hole, run your chart and look at the transits. Where you already have gates defined, you may not really “feel” these energies as much. If they aren’t defined in your chart, you may feel more unsettled around subjects that take on these energies. Want to speak up about some different ideas that aren’t status quo? It might feel completely foreign if Gate 8 isn’t already defined in your chart.

To take it one step further, see if the opposite gate is defined on the chart. Because these are slow moving planets, these transits affect your chart for several years.

If you have Gate 1 defined in your chart already, and this transit defines Gate 8, then for this transit you have the 1-8 Channel, Inspiration. This channel can feel like pressure to make a contribution to the world. Because this channel connects Throat to G(Identity), it speaks from your specific experience and has an inherent vulnerability associated with it. It’s also a projected energy meaning that it needs some kind of outside recognition and invitation to be influential. Paying attention to what invitation and recognition feel like is important. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you’ve spoken up and it seemed like no one heard or no one cares, that’s an indicator that the invitation wasn’t there.

If you have Gate 51 defined then this transit defines the 25-51 Channel, Initiation. Because one of the gates is on the will (ego) center, which is defined as a motor in Human Design, the initiation comes not from doing anything, it’s just …there. These can be shocking and you in turn may shock other people into situations they didn’t know were coming. Sometimes this channel is called the shamanic channel as the shock from Gate 51 can be life-altering (aka death of who you were into someone different, and typically more spiritually connected).

If you have Gate 62 defined then this transit defines the 17-62 Channel, Acceptance. This connects up the questions and ideas with the Throat and gives voice to those ideas. The Gate 62 lends structure and practicality to the ideas of Gate 17. But…the Throat and Ajna don’t have energy behind them so it’s another projected channel. To bring these ideas to be experimented with requires some kind of invitation or recognized.

A note on “invitation” and “recognition” – two of the most difficult concepts to grasp in Human Design. Well, that’s my opinion anyway as I’ve been playing around with them since learning about having a Projector chart. Neither one of these mean that you can’t do anything until you’re invited or recognized. So, if you have the Channel 17-62 defined in this transit and you’re noticing a stronger pull to take action on some ideas you’ve been experimenting with, then take the action. The invitation/recognition pieces often follow when we’re in the middle of developing our ideas or ready to present them.
